What Dr. Emer did · RE:SKN

Every procedure. In order.

  1. 01

    Deep Erbium laser resurfacing RE:SKN

More than 500 microns into the superficial to deep dermis, removing the surface layer of skin and causing bleeding; fractional ablation with immediate barrier repair.

“When you go more than 500 microns, you're in the deep, you're in the superficial to deep dermis, and unless you have heat there, you bleed.”

    Dr. Emer, in the film
  2. 02

Emer Skin Intense Hydration Mask application RE:SKN

Applied immediately post-laser with stem cells, peptides, hyaluronic acid, tea tree, and licorice root for barrier repair and anti-inflammatory action.

  3. 03

Glacial cryo cooling with hyaluronic acid RE:SKN

Cold air with hyaluronic acid applied immediately after masking to calm inflammation, increase circulation, depuff, and potentially enhance product penetration; repeated twice daily for two to three days.

“Inflammation causes pigmentation, inflammation, pigmentation. Inflammation causes prolonged redness and it also causes pain, swelling after the procedure. So what do we want to do? We want to calm it down.”

Why patients fly in

What Dr. Emer does differently.

He helped write the Glacial post-procedure protocol

Dr. Emer was one of the first physicians to use Glacial cryo cooling and worked directly with the company to create the protocol now used in practices worldwide, based on thousands of treatments.

“I helped Glacial create the basically the protocol for people immediately after treatment because we were doing so many treatments and escalating how fast people heal.”

He pairs cryo cooling with his own barrier repair mask

Dr. Emer designed the Emer Skin Intense Hydration Mask specifically for post-laser care and applies it before Glacial cooling, believing the cold air may increase product absorption and speed healing.

“I have found may also potentially cause penetration of product, which is why we use this mask initially and then we pour the rest of the emmer skin product on the skin because it gets absorbed faster and people heal faster.”

He uses Glacial twice daily for two to three days after deep lasers

For treatments over 500 microns, Dr. Emer schedules Glacial sessions twice a day for the first few days, sometimes adding oxygen and hyperbaric therapy to cut downtime from a week to a day.

“We used to do CO2 around the eyes all the time 20 years ago and people literally couldn't see for a week. Now they do this that same day and they're fine the next day.”

He gets celebrity clients back on tour between shows

Dr. Emer performs deep laser treatments on touring clients with only three days between performances, using Glacial twice daily to eliminate the week-long recovery that used to define ablative resurfacing.

“I had one the other day who's on tour and only like 3 days in between tour, but yet she wanted to do her laser because she doesn't get to do it often. We'll do the laser and we'll literally glacial twice a day for 3 days and guess what? back on tour even with a strong laser.”

The problem with deep laser used to be the week after

Twenty years ago, a deep CO2 laser around the eyes meant a week of swelling so severe that patients could not see. The skin was gone, inflammation ran hot, and the only option was petroleum jelly that trapped heat and made it worse.

Dr. Emer helped change that. He worked with Glacial to build a cryo cooling protocol that calms the skin immediately after treatment, reducing inflammation before it causes prolonged redness, pigmentation, or pain. The patient in this video had a deep Erbium laser, more than 500 microns into the dermis, and was back to normal the next day.

Why inflammation matters after a laser

Inflammation after a deep laser is not just discomfort. It drives pigmentation, prolongs redness, and extends downtime. The deeper the laser, the more the skin bleeds and the hotter it runs.

Glacial cryo cooling depuffs, increases circulation, and stops that heat cycle. Dr. Emer pairs it with his own Emer Skin Intense Hydration Mask, which has stem cells, peptides, hyaluronic acid, tea tree, and licorice root to support barrier repair while the cooling works.

How the protocol is built

Four steps. One goal.

Stop inflammation before it causes pigmentation, redness, or prolonged downtime.

  1. 01

    Deep laser treatment

Erbium or CO2 laser removes the surface of the skin and resurfaces the dermis, bleeding at depths over 500 microns.

  2. 02

    Emer Skin Intense Hydration Mask

Applied immediately after the laser with stem cells, peptides, hyaluronic acid, tea tree, and licorice root for barrier repair.

  3. 03

Glacial cryo cooling with hyaluronic acid

Cold air with hyaluronic acid calms inflammation, depuffs, and increases circulation while the mask absorbs.

  4. 04

Repeat for two to three days

Glacial twice a day for the first few days, sometimes with oxygen and hyperbaric therapy for faster healing.

The treatment, explained

What is Glacial cryo cooling?

Also called post-laser cryo cooling, cryo facial, post-laser inflammation treatment, Erbium laser recovery, CO2 laser downtime reduction, post-ablative cooling.

What it is
Glacial cryo cooling is a post-laser treatment that uses cold air with hyaluronic acid to calm inflammation immediately after deep Erbium or CO2 laser resurfacing. Dr. Emer applies it after removing the surface layer of skin at depths over 500 microns, when the skin bleeds and inflammation would normally cause a week of swelling, redness, and risk of pigmentation. The cooling is paired with his Emer Skin Intense Hydration Mask to repair the skin barrier and speed healing.
How it works
Cold air is applied to the skin immediately after laser treatment and barrier repair masking. The cooling calms inflammation, increases circulation, depuffs swelling, and may enhance absorption of the stem cells, peptides, and hyaluronic acid in the mask. Dr. Emer repeats the treatment twice daily for two to three days after deep lasers, sometimes adding oxygen and hyperbaric therapy. The protocol stops the heat that drives pigmentation, prolonged redness, and week-long downtime.
Who it is for
Glacial cryo cooling is used after deep Erbium and CO2 laser treatments at any depth, and as a standalone facial for patients with sensitive skin, acne, rosacea, lupus, or autoimmune conditions that cause redness or rashes. It works on every skin type. Dr. Emer also uses it before red carpet events, weddings, and tours, and after facelifts to reduce swelling. The treatment and cooling plan are set at consultation.
Recovery
Glacial cryo cooling has zero downtime. It is the treatment that decreases downtime from the laser. After a deep laser over 500 microns, patients are less hot when they go home and back to normal the next day instead of swollen for a week. The patient in the film rated his pain during the laser a three out of ten and found the cooling refreshing. Recovery specifics are individual and discussed at consultation.
When results show
Inflammation is calmed immediately. Patients are less swollen the next day, with reduced redness and no post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The skin heals faster than it would without cooling. Long-term results depend on the laser treatment performed. Dr. Emer has performed thousands of Glacial treatments over years of use.

Inflammation causes pigmentation

The hotter the skin runs after a laser, the more likely it is to develop post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Cooling stops that.

Inflammation prolongs redness

Redness that lasts weeks instead of days is driven by inflammation that was never calmed. Glacial cuts that timeline.

Cooling increases circulation

Cold air depuffs and brings fresh blood to the skin, which speeds healing and reduces swelling around the eyes and face.

Hyaluronic acid penetrates faster

Dr. Emer believes the cooling may increase product absorption, which is why he pairs it with his own hydration mask.

Asked plainly, answered plainly

What patients ask before they book.

Is there downtime from the Glacial cooling itself?+

No. Glacial cryo cooling has zero downtime. It is the treatment that decreases downtime from the laser. You can have it done immediately after a deep laser and go home less hot and swollen than you would without it.

How many times do I need Glacial after a deep laser?+

For a deep laser over 500 microns, Dr. Emer recommends Glacial twice a day for two to three days. For lighter treatments, once may be enough. The plan is set at consultation based on the depth of your laser and your skin's response.

Can I use Glacial if I have sensitive skin or rosacea?+

Yes. Dr. Emer uses Glacial as a standalone facial for patients with sensitive skin, acne, rosacea, lupus, and autoimmune conditions that cause redness or rashes. It works on every skin type and calms inflammation without irritation.

What is the Emer Skin Intense Hydration Mask?+

A barrier repair mask Dr. Emer designed for post-laser care, with stem cells, peptides, hyaluronic acid, tea tree, and licorice root. It is applied immediately after laser treatment and before Glacial cooling. It is also used for anti-aging, acne, and sunburn.

Does Glacial tighten the skin?+

No, Glacial does not tighten the skin. It calms inflammation, increases circulation, and depuffs. The under-eye area and around the eyes respond especially well, and it is one of Dr. Emer's red carpet treatments before events.

How does Glacial prevent pigmentation after a laser?+

Inflammation causes post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The hotter the skin runs after a laser, the more likely it is to develop dark spots. Glacial stops that cycle by calming inflammation immediately, before pigmentation can start.

Can I get a deep laser if I only have three days before an event?+

Dr. Emer has performed deep lasers on touring clients with only three days between performances, using Glacial twice daily to eliminate the week-long recovery. Whether that fits your plan depends on your skin type, the laser depth, and your tolerance, all discussed at consultation.

What did people do before Glacial cryo cooling existed?+

Twenty years ago, patients would apply petroleum jelly or Crisco to the skin after a deep laser, which made them hotter and prolonged inflammation. CO2 lasers around the eyes caused swelling so severe that people could not see for a week. Glacial changed that standard.
