Why this patient came to Dr. Emer
The patient in this video did not come to Dr. Emer to increase her size. She came because previous BBLs left her with irregularities: cellulite indentations, lumpiness across the buttocks, untreated problem areas on her arms and back, diastasis on her stomach, and a hernia that needed repair.
She had been to numerous doctors who said no. Dr. Emer evaluated her case and determined he could improve the irregularities safely while respecting her goals. This was a revision case, not an enhancement case, and the focus was correction and smoothing.
What the procedure addressed
Dr. Emer performed liposuction with fat grafting to smooth the severe cellulite and indentations left by prior surgeries. The buttocks were evened out, the arms and upper back were treated, and the stomach was defined while repairing the hernia.
One day post-op, the patient is swollen, which is expected. The smoothing is visible on camera when comparing the treated side to the untreated side, and the final result will settle over the following weeks as swelling resolves.
Pre-operative clearance and aftercare
Every patient at Dr. Emer's practice undergoes extensive pre-operative testing, including cardiac clearance and large examinations on the heart. This patient was medically cleared before the procedure.
Post-operatively, she is receiving hyperbaric therapy, massage, and IV therapies for healing. Dr. Emer's aftercare protocol is detailed and meticulous, designed to support recovery and optimize the outcome.
Patient autonomy in body contouring
Dr. Emer is a board-certified dermatologist with over 15 years of liposuction experience and two fellowships. He has pioneered body contouring techniques that are now taught internationally, and he does say no to patients when a procedure is unsafe.
In this case, the patient's goals were medically appropriate, the procedure was safe, and the outcome one day post-op shows improvement. She is happy with her body, and that autonomy is central to the work Dr. Emer does.
