Power of Chemical Peels

Virtually any skin condition that you are suffering from can be effectively treated using chemical peels that are customized to suit your individual goals and needs. These skin treatments are able to treat a wide range of conditions ranging from wrinkles to scars to hyperpigmentation and more. The type that is best-suited for you and your unique situation can be determined during your initial consultation at our office.

What is Involved in a Light Chemical Peel Treatment?

A light chemical peel is able to treat superficial skin problems like enlarged pores, superficial acne, and a dull complexion. It typically involves a light concentration of various beneficial acids. It works by gently exfoliating the surface of your skin without causing too much irritation. Popular options at our office include Enlighten or ReveFresh peels. We can even combine these peels with other treatments to clear out the pores and boost skin radiance. Do keep in mind that multiple treatment sessions may be required in some cases.

What is a Medium Peel?

This kind of treatment can be used to address moderate sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and enlarged pores. It can also be used in combination with other treatments. At our office, we perform the customizable, oil-based RevePeel, which can provide deep exfoliation and lighten the skin. Are There Any Precautions That I Should Take Before a Peel Treatment?

Peels remove some of the outer skin layers, so it is important to stay hydrated both before and after your peel treatment. This will ensure that you get the best possible results from your treatment and that nothing interferes with the healing process.

Enjoy Total Customization

One of the best things about chemical peels is the fact that the treatment can be tailored based on your wants and needs. It’s a great treatment by itself, but when used as an add-on in order to prepare the skin for further skin treatments, such as laser resurfacing, the final results can be truly incredible.

The unique aspect of my practice is comprehensive long-term skin care plans that include combination treatments to address my individual patient #goals and concerns. Frequently, a combination of treatments are needed to be working together to get the best results.⁣ ⁣ For this young male patient, we are using a lightening and exfoliating peel two week prior to laser treatment to prepare his skin for the laser treatment. Lightening and exfoliating peels decrease the skin’s natural melanin production by inhibiting an enzyme (tyrosinase), decreasing the risk of hyperpigmentation in those with sensitive skin types and mixed ethnitcities. Given that our patient is of a darker skin type it is necessary to prepare his skin for energy-based treatments. The exfoliation removes acne, pigmentation, decreases pores and oil production, and reduces sun damage. When combined with lasers or microneedling radiofrequency, you can boost the final results and give more safe improvement long-term. ⁣ ⁣ If you’re interested in seeing what combination treatments work best to address your skin concerns, please email appointments@jasonemermd.com or visit jasonemermd.com for patient stories.
