PDO AFTERGLO™

Conveniently located to serve Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Los Angeles, NYC, and Miami.

If you’re concerned that your skin has lost its youthful luster and elasticity, PDO AfterGlo™ may be the solution you need to restore a look you love. At the medical practice of board-certified cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Jason Emer in Beverly Hills, PDO AfterGlo™ is available as both a standalone procedure and as an integral part of patients’ personalized anti-aging and beautifying treatment protocols.

WHAT IS PDO AFTERGLO™?

PDO AfterGlo™ is a leading-edge, non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment. This expertly formulated serum is the first topical-use cosmetic solution to harness the collagen-stimulating benefits of polydioxanone (PDO).

PDO is a strong, flexible, biodegradable polymer used to make dissolvable sutures. This material is also made into threads to be used for PDO thread lifting procedures.

PDO thread lifting involves the placement of tiny strands of PDO under the skin to non-surgically elevate sagging tissue and tighten skin. As the PDO dissolves in the body, it prompts an increase in the body’s production of collagen. PDO is also known to promote improved skin elasticity.

PDO AfterGlo™ was designed to provide a supplemental or alternative method for patients to take advantage of PDO’s ability to revitalize their skin with a boost in collagen and elastin. To make this product even more beneficial, the PDO powder in this cosmetic product is combined with a liquid form of hyaluronic acid (HA), a vital component of youthful skin.

Our bodies produce HA, which functions to keep skin flexible and supple and aids in wound healing. However, HA’s key role in maintaining a beautiful, refreshed complexion, is its capacity to lock in moisture.

Properly hydrated skin has a full, plump appearance. Unfortunately, as we get older, the body’s natural production of HA declines. As a result, the skin loses volume, and we start to see wrinkles and fine lines. PDO AfterGlo™ helps minimize these and other signs of aging by compensating for the body’s decreased levels of HA.

RIGHT FOR YOU?

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE SKIN TIGHTENING THERAPY?

This non-invasive treatment is safe for all skin tones and skin types. Candidates must understand that PDO AfterGlo™ is not intended to resolve every skin condition or aesthetic concern. It is often best to combine PDO AfterGlo™ with one or more complementary cosmetic treatments in order to accomplish more complex treatment goals.

Healthy adults of any age who desire stronger, fuller, and more radiant skin are great candidates for PDO AfterGlo™. Younger patients love that PDO AfterGlo™ gives them an incredibly smooth, polished complexion for a “filtered” look. The hydrating and collagen-stimulating effects of PDO AfterGlo™ provide noticeable plumping and firming for older patients with more significant age-related wrinkles and volume loss.

Many candidates are patients who have undergone a PDO Max thread lift and want to enhance their results with an additional collagen boost. However, patients who have not had a thread lift can be good candidates, as well.

HOW DOES PDO AFTERGLO™ WORK?

The anti-aging ingredients in PDO AfterGlo™ are formulated for transdermal absorption, so the serum is applied directly to the surface of the skin. The hyaluronic acid then works to improve moisture retention. As the body absorbs the PDO, collagen production is stimulated, which supports longer-term improvements in the firmness and resilience of your skin.

Optimal results require maximum penetration and absorption of the serum. Congested pores, debris, dead skin cells, and excess oil can act as a barrier between the applied serum and the targeted dermal tissue, so Dr. Emer often recommends in-office or at-home pre-treatments that cleanse and exfoliate to clear the way for PDO AfterGlo™.

Applying PDO AfterGlo™ with microneedling or microchanneling devices creates ideal conditions for the serum to reach deeper layers of dermal tissue for a more profound treatment outcome.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A PDO AFTERGLO™ TREATMENT SESSION

PDO AfterGlo™ can be performed as a singular treatment or in conjunction with one or more complementary treatments, so procedure details can vary. Dr. Emer frequently performs PDO AfterGlo™ in conjunction with microneedling, microneedling with radiofrequency, and laser skin treatments.

In general, microneedling is the preferred method of applying PDO AfterGlo™. A microneedling procedure is performed using a specialized device that is fitted with a tip made of numerous tiny needles. When the needles puncture the skin’s surface, microchannels are created and work as efficient pathways for delivering PDO AfterGlo™ into deeper, underlying dermal layers.

Not only does microneedling aid in maximizing the absorption of AfterGlo, it is also a powerful collagen stimulating treatment. Increased collagen production is part of the body’s healing response, which is triggered by the pinpoint wounding.

HOW MANY PDO AFTERGLO™ TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Though the right number of sessions for you will depend on your unique aesthetic goals, an initial set of three sessions at four-week intervals works well for most patients. Once you complete the series, you can reduce the frequency of your PDO AfterGlo™ treatments to every six months or so without sacrificing your results.

THE DR. EMER DIFFERENCE

HOW DR. EMER DOES PDO AFTERGLO™ DIFFERENTLY

Periodic retreatment sessions will account for one aspect of the customized treatment plan Dr. Emer creates to help you extend the longevity of your PDO AfterGlo™ results. Your anti-aging plan may also include one or more additional cosmetic procedures, such as:

  • Sculptra injections to fill wrinkles and folds, replace lost volume, and trigger the formation of collagen
  • Ultherapy for skin tightening and collagen stimulation using ultrasound energy
  • Thermage external radiofrequency therapy to increase collagen production and reduce wrinkles and skin laxity
  • Glow IV therapy to support skin cell regeneration, repair damaged skin, and reduce inflammation
  • Monthly spa treatments such as facials, light peels, and/or Aquagold Fine Touch
  • Quarterly light skin resurfacing with laser devices like Erbium or Fraxel for wrinkle reduction, smoother skin, and long-term improvements in collagen building.

To stop signs of aging and sun damage from reclaiming your complexion between in-office treatments, Dr. Emer’s maintenance and prevention protocols include a targeted at-home skincare regimen and emphasis on properly protecting your skin from harmful UV rays.

Consistent use of quality skincare products as recommended by Dr. Emer is essential for preventing visible signs of aging from becoming more prominent and for minimizing damage from day-to-day exposure to environmental pollutants.

HOW MUCH DOES PDO AFTERGLO™ COST?

Due to variances in the amount of serum used, number of sessions needed, and other factors, the price of a PDO AfterGlo™ treatment can differ from one patient to another. Cost information will be reviewed with you once Dr. Emer has created your personalized treatment plan.
