ROSACEA TREATMENT

Conveniently located to serve Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Los Angeles, NYC, and Miami.

Rosacea can cause persistent red, bumpy, and sensitive facial skin that can be painful and can significantly impact your self-confidence. There is no cure for rosacea, and many patients feel hopeless when it comes to restoring and maintaining a smooth, even complexion.

Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Jason Emer has made it his mission to find treatment solutions for skin conditions like rosacea that disrupt his patients’ appearance and quality of life. He provides customized rosacea treatments at his Beverly Hills medical practice to ease discomfort, manage symptoms, and rejuvenate the skin.

WHAT IS ROSACEA?

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin ailment that affects the facial skin. At first, it may look like a sunburn or blushing that doesn’t go away. If it isn’t treated, it can gradually worsen and cause additional symptoms and increasing discomfort.

There is no consensus on the cause of rosacea. Genetics, an overactive immune system, and environmental factors may play a role. Flare-ups of rosacea symptoms are often linked to exposure to sun and wind, consuming alcoholic beverages, eating spicy foods, exercise, stress, and certain medications.

People who suffer from rosacea may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Redness in the midface
  • Skin that flushes easily
  • Visible tiny blood vessels just beneath the surface of the skin
  • Sensitive skin
  • A hot or burning sensation in the affected skin
  • Tiny red bumps and/or pus-filled papules that resemble acne

RIGHT FOR YOU?

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR ROSACEA TREATMENT?

Patients who are diagnosed with rosacea may be good candidates for treatment if they:

  • Are in good physical health
  • Are willing to follow Dr. Emer’s instructions before and after treatment
  • Understand that treatment will not cure rosacea but can significantly reduce symptoms and improve the appearance of the skin

The first step to restoring a calmer, more even, and glowing complexion is a consultation with an experienced, board-certified dermatologist like Dr. Emer. In the consultation, Dr. Emer will perform an examination of the affected skin and ask you about your symptoms and medical history. He can then diagnose your condition and develop a targeted protocol to resolve your symptoms.

ROSACEA TREATMENT OPTIONS

Regular sessions with laser therapy have been shown to be an effective treatment to keep the symptoms of rosacea away. There are several types of laser systems that may be used to address rosacea, and multiple types of rosacea can be treated with laser therapy.

Prescription medications, such as antibiotics and topical medications are another treatment option. For most patients, laser therapy can provide more desirable results with less risk. Topical medications and antibiotics may reduce inflammation for a short time. However, it is not recommended to use antibiotics as a long-term solution, and laser therapy provides longer-lasting improvements than topical medications.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING LASER THERAPY FOR ROSACEA

Dr. Emer performs laser treatments at his West Hollywood medical practice. At the start of your procedure, a numbing cream will be applied to the face. It takes about 40 minutes for the cream to take effect. The numbing agent will then be removed from the face, and metal shields will be placed over your eyes to protect them from the laser beam.

Dr. Emer can then begin the laser treatment. After calibrating the laser device to safely and effectively treat your unique skin, he moves the handheld laser device across the treatment area as needed to improve the appearance of broken veins and reduce inflammation.

A cooling mask will be applied after the laser treatment, which can leave the skin feeling hot. The mask is followed by LED light therapy to reduce inflammation and promote healing.

DR. EMER’S APPROACH TO LASER THERAPY FOR ROSACEA

Dr. Emer relies on strategic combinations of laser devices to resolve redness and sensitivity and encourage healthier, smoother, and more radiant skin. His rosacea laser treatments are meticulously tailored to each patient’s skin type, skin tone, and aesthetic goals.

A series of two to three treatments is often needed to visibly improve rosacea symptoms. Once you’ve achieved your desired results, maintenance treatments can be performed two to three times a year to prevent rosacea symptoms.

Dr. Emer’s advanced rosacea treatments often include the Aerolase microsecond YAG laser in combination with:

VASCULAR LASERS

Vascular lasers like Excel V. Vascular lasers are designed to precisely target redness and damaged blood vessels.

QUADROSTAR PRO

QuadroStar Pro Yellow Laser, a high-powered diode laser that is more efficient than lower-power lasers in treating damaged blood vessels and pigmentation.

PULSED DYE LASERS

Pulsed Dye Lasers like VBeam, which is a type of vascular laser that seeks out and heats blood vessels to cause controlled inflammation and trigger the body’s healing response.

IPL

IPL devices like Venus Versa, a device that delivers specific wavelengths of intense pulsed light (IPL) to the skin to treat damaged blood vessels, sun spots, spider veins, and other skin concerns.

NON-ABLATIVE FRACTIONAL LASER

Non-ablative fractional laser systems like Clear + Brilliant to reduce inflammation and rejuvenate the skin.

ROSACEA TREATMENTS

To enhance the results of laser therapy for rosacea, Dr. Emer will recommend a personalized skincare regimen of calming facials and high quality skincare products, such as those in his proprietary Emerage Skin skincare line. With Dr. Emer’s strategic combination skincare protocols, patients can nourish their skin and prevent rosacea flare-ups between laser therapy treatments.

Dr. Emer also recommends at-home light therapy with LightStim to his patients with rosacea. This handheld device helps to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, reduce redness, and encourage healing.
