HOW DOES PLASMA PEN WORK?
This non-invasive treatment delivers a micro-electrical charge, which heats the surface layer of the skin. To create the electrical pulse, the device combines oxygen and nitrogen to create an arc of plasma which travels from the device to the skin. The actual device never comes into contact with the skin.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING PLASMA PEN TREATMENT

Patients typically feel a small shock or tingling sensation with each plasma discharge. Most patients report minimal discomfort during the procedure.
To minimize post-treatment redness and swelling, Dr. Emer will perform LED red light therapy in-office after your Plasma Pen treatment. He will also provide detailed instructions for at-home LED LightStim therapy, so you can continue to support the healing process and accelerate your results.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER PLASMA PEN TREATMENT
There is no significant downtime after a Plasma Pen procedure. You will be able to resume most of your normal daily activities within 24-48 hours. However, in the first days after your treatment, it is important to stay out of the sun and avoid excessive sweating, sweat rooms and saunas, and any submersion in water as advised by Dr. Emer.
While you won’t have physical activity restrictions, many patients opt for several days of rest at home during the initial stages of healing. The micro-injuries created by Plasma Pen appear as small marks or “dots” in the treated area, and some patients prefer not to engage in social situations until the marks fade.
The micro-trauma dots will scab as part of the healing process and will be visible for three to seven days. Post-treatment, you may notice redness or brown discoloration for up to six weeks. This condition can be resolved with proper skincare protocols and sun protection.
