HOW DOES SCULPTRA WORK?
Decreased collagen production is a natural part of aging and the reason we start to see wrinkles, sagging, hollows, and other unwanted changes to our appearance. Sculptra works to gradually replace diminished collagen to slow the aging process on the inside and “turn back the clock” on the outside.
Made from an absorbable, synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), Sculptra acts a fertilizer deep beneath the skin, boosting collagen production and helping to restore your skin’s inner structure and volume. With a series of treatments, the remodeled collagen strands restore lost volume, provide fullness to smooth out wrinkles and folds, and gradually tighten the skin over the course of several months.
THE DR. EMER DIFFERENCE
FACIAL CONTOURING WITH SCULPTRA
Facial volume loss tends to most significantly impact the temples, cheeks, jawline, chin, and nasolabial folds. To comprehensively rejuvenate, shape, and restore fullness in these areas, Dr. Emer may combine Sculptra with:
- Dermal fillers
- Thread lifting
- Microneedling radiofrequency (RF) devices
- Lasers
- Facial fat grafting
- Renuva synthetic fat grafting
BODY CONTOURING WITH SCULPTRA
While Sculptra is primarily used for facial sculpting, Dr. Emer has developed several innovative body contouring treatments that utilize this cosmetic injectable. As an experienced body sculptor and expert in injectable fillers, Dr. Emer can use Sculptra to provide non-surgical enhancement of the arms, chest, thighs, knees, and buttocks.
Dr. Emer often employs RF treatments, such as Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra, Thermage, and/or InMode Forma/Contoura, to activate Sculptra body contouring treatments. RF therapies provide further stimulation of collagen production for maximum improvements in the texture and tone of the skin as well.
Dr. Emer also combines Sculptra with injectable treatments like Renuva synthetic fat grafting, Radiesse, and/or Bellafill. These advanced combinations of fillers work to provide more definition and softening as well as more significant improvements in size and shape.
Dr. Emer’s “BellaLift” treatment, which pairs Sculptra and Bellafill, has proven to be a highly effective non-surgical body contouring solution. Bellafill is a semi-permanent dermal filler that increases volume and promotes collagen production, making it an exceptional complement to Sculptra. BellaLift builds out the treated area over time, creating fuller, firmer contours that last.
Dr. Emer’s most sought-after Sculptra body shaping treatments involve the lower body and include:
NON-SURGICAL BUTT LIFT
For male and female patients looking for a fuller, rounder butt, Sculptra is a no-downtime, minimally invasive solution. Sculptra can be used in lieu of (or in addition to) a fat transfer to the buttocks, or Brazilian butt lift (BBL). With the proper dilution and Dr. Emer’s meticulous technique, Sculptra does not cause any lumps or bumps and is safe for injection in the buttocks.
Dr. Emer frequently performs a BellaLift butt lift using a combination of Sculptra and Bellafill. Patients enjoy faster noticeable results and longer-term enhancement with this advanced treatment. In some cases, Renuva and/or Radiesse may also be used as part of a Sculptra butt lift.
HIP DIP FILLER
Hip dips are inward-curving contours on the side body, between the hip bones and upper thighs. These indentations are associated with certain genetic characteristics of the pelvic skeletal structure. Although hip dips, or violin hips, pose no medical risk, many patients prefer more rounded hip contours. BellaLift can help to fill out hip dents and achieve a fuller, softer look.
CELLULITE IMPROVEMENT
Dr. Emer frequently incorporates Sculptra into cellulite reduction treatments. The gold standard for cellulite improvement is Cellfina. This minimally invasive device uses a small, motorized needle to target the fibrous bands beneath the surface of the skin that cause cellulite dimples.
Dr. Emer complements Cellfina with Sculptra injections to fill visible indentations and kickstart collagen production. Fat grafting, energy-based devices (Exilis Ultra and Venus Legacy), and/or shockwave therapy (Cellutone, eVIVE, or ZWave), may also be recommended to further optimize collagen production and encourage smoother skin texture and long-term skin tightening.
RIGHT FOR YOU?
AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR SCULPTRA?
Dr. Emer can determine your candidacy for Sculptra in a consultation. He will assess the areas you want to improve and learn about your medical history and desired treatment outcomes. He can then develop a customized sculpting protocol to best achieve your goals.
In general, candidates for Sculptra are healthy individuals who want to add volume and improve definition in the face or body. Sculptra is made from a biocompatible, biodegradable material that is safe for all skin types. It is particularly effective for patients with darker skin tones, who are known to be more active collagen producers genetically.
Good candidates for Sculptra are often patients who use dermal fillers, as Sculptra is an optimal method of enhancing results by building a long-term, collagen-rich foundation beneath the skin. The treatment is ideal for those who metabolize fillers more quickly than others and for active patients who follow high-protein diets and rigorous exercise regimens.
