Upper Blepharoplasty
WHAT IS UPPER BLEPHAROPLASTY?
Upper blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that rejuvenates the upper eyelid area. This facial plastic surgery is also called upper eyelid surgery or an upper eyelid lift. Upper blepharoplasty targets the sagging skin, weakened muscles, and fat deposits that cause the upper eyelids to droop.
Upper eyelid surgery should only be performed by surgeons who specialize in facial surgery. Facial plastic surgeons have extensive knowledge of facial anatomy and use refined surgical techniques that allow them to achieve a natural looking lift with upper eyelid surgery.

HOW IS UPPER EYELID SURGERY PERFORMED?
Upper Blepharoplasty Recovery
Patients should plan for a week or two of downtime after upper eyelid surgery. Bruising or swelling can occur in the initial stage of your recovery. These symptoms usually resolve within two weeks of your surgery, and most patients feel comfortable resuming social activities at that point.
Complete healing can take a few months or more, depending on the patient. You must be especially careful to protect the treatment areas from excessive pressure, motion, and force during this time.
Upper Eyelid Lift Results
Upper blepharoplasty patients can enjoy a rejuvenated facial appearance for many years. The natural aging process may change the appearance of the eye area over time, though there are many non-surgical treatments that can help you maintain your upper eyelid surgery results.
Dr. Emer can create a personalized anti-aging protocol to support healthy, firm facial skin long-term. His recommendations often include advanced sun protection and anti-aging skincare products, as well as minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatments, such as laser skin resurfacing.
The Dr. Emer Difference
OUR APPROACH TO UPPER BLEPHAROPLASTY
Successful facial rejuvenation outcomes require consideration of the whole face, even if a patient is only concerned with one area. Dr. Emer often advises combining upper blepharoplasty with complementary procedures to ensure a natural looking, harmonious result.
Upper eyelid surgery is frequently combined with lower eyelid treatments. Non-surgical skin tightening and/or skin rejuvenation treatments may be recommended to create balance between the upper and lower eyelids. In other cases, lower blepharoplasty, or lower eyelid surgery may be paired with an upper eyelid lift for comprehensive rejuvenation of the eye area.
Drooping upper eyelids can be a result of skin and muscle laxity in the forehead and brow. A combination brow lift and upper blepharoplasty may be advised in order to achieve an aesthetic look in the upper face.
