Cosmetic breast surgery can transform a woman’s appearance and improve her quality of life. Breast surgeries are often combined in order to resolve multiple concerns simultaneously. One of the most frequently performed combination breast surgeries pairs a breast lift, or mastopexy, with breast augmentation to create perkier, more voluptuous breast contours.

At the prestigious medical practice of Dr. Jason Emer in Beverly Hills, breast augmentation and lift surgery is provided by Dr. Yoel Rojas. Dr. Rojas is a double board-certified plastic surgeon who applies his exceptional surgical skill and artistic talent to deliver transformative breast enhancement results.

This surgical procedure raises the breast position and increases breast size through the pairing of two distinct plastic surgeries:

  • Breast augmentation – This popular cosmetic surgery is performed to enlarge the breasts. Volume can be added to the breasts by placing breast implants and/or via fat grafting. This procedure can enhance naturally small breasts, correct asymmetry, and/or restore lost volume.
  • Breast lift – A breast lift, or mastopexy, involves removing excess skin and repositioning tissue to elevate the position of the breasts and ensure firm, smooth contours. Mastopexy can address several aesthetic concerns, including skin laxity, sagging breasts, nipples that point downward, and elongated breasts.
While these respective procedures can be performed as stand-alone surgeries, there are some cases in which a successful, natural-looking outcome is only possible by combining breast augmentation with a breast lift. Breast augmentation with lift surgery may also be referred to as a breast lift with augmentation, breast lift with implants, or breast augmentation with mastopexy.

Right for you?

Ideal candidates for a breast lift with augmentation in Beverly Hills are women who:

Desire fuller breasts

Wish to restore a more youthful breast position

Are bothered by breast asymmetry

Do not have underlying medical conditions that interfere with the body’s ability to heal

Maintain a stable, healthy body weight

Do not smoke or can commit to following Dr. Rojas’ directions for abstaining from smoking over the four weeks prior to surgery and for the duration of the recovery period

It is important that candidates understand that choosing to become pregnant after having a breast lift with augmentation is likely to compromise their results. A revision surgery may be necessary to resolve unwanted changes in the shape, volume, and position of the breasts due to pregnancy and/or breastfeeding. In order to avoid the need for a second surgery, most women choose to postpone breast surgery until after their family is complete.

Customizing Your Breast Augmentation with Lift

Dr. Rojas understands that every woman has unique aesthetic goals, and he works diligently to provide highly personalized breast enhancement treatments. Since there are so many ways to customize breast enlargement procedures, he is thorough in explaining treatment options to patients and answering any questions they have about breast augmentation with:

Fat transfer (natural breast augmentation)

Also called autologous fat transfer or fat grafting, this breast augmentation method repurposes your unwanted body fat to increase the size of your breasts. You must have adequate excess fat that can be harvested from the upper arms, abdomen, back, thighs, or elsewhere in the body in order to be a candidate for natural breast augmentation with a breast lift.
Fat grafting for breast augmentation involves liposuction to remove unwanted fat from the targeted area. Not only can the extracted fat then be purified and injected into the breasts, but you will also enjoy slimmer contours in the areas treated with liposuction.

Silicone breast implants

Silicone breast implants are approved for patients who are at least 22 years old. Dr. Rojas applies his body contouring expertise and his artistic sense when helping patients navigate the many avenues of customization afforded by silicone implants, which include:

Volume – Implant sizes are measured in cubic centimeters, which can be confusing for patients. Dr. Rojas may utilize digital imaging, before-and-after photos of previous patients, or other tools to help patients visualize how an implant of a particular volume would alter their breast size.

Cohesiveness – The cohesiveness of a silicone implant affects how your new breasts will move and feel. Less cohesive implants tend to be perceived as most similar to natural breast tissue. More cohesive implants are firm-to-stiff and hold their shape more rigidly.

Shape – Silicone implants come in round and “teardrop” shapes. Patients seeking more natural-looking breasts often choose teardrop-shaped implants, which have limited upper breast volume. Round silicone implants are the preferred option for patients who desire more dramatic cleavage.

Profile – Volume is not the only factor that affects sizing. Implants that have identical volume can create very different breast contours depending on the base width. Implant profiles indicate how much or how little the implant will project from the chest, which affects how much larger the breasts will appear to be. High profile implants have a narrower base width and are associated with the most projection. Low profile implants have a flatter shape due to their wider bases.

Saline breast implants

Saline breast implants consist of a silicone shell that is filled with sterile salt water. Women over the age of 18 can undergo breast augmentation with saline implants. Saline implants create round, full breast contours. Sizing is customized to the patient by the exact volume of saline used to fill the implant shell.

Breast implants and fat transfer

Fat grafting can be paired with saline or silicone breast implants to ensure a beautiful, natural-looking outcome. Dr. Rojas can inject a patient’s purified fat around their implants to refine the breast shape and to conceal any wrinkling or rippling of the implant shell.

What Does a Breast Lift with Augmentation Involve?

This combination breast surgery is generally performed on an outpatient basis. This means that you will be able to have a trusted family member or friend drive you home within hours of completing your surgery.

Procedure details vary greatly due to the extent of customization associated with this treatment. Prior to your procedure, Dr. Rojas will walk you through your surgical plan, so you know what to expect.

You will be given anesthesia to ensure that you remain comfortable during the surgery. Once the anesthesia has taken effect, Dr. Rojas will begin the procedure.

A more aesthetic breast position must be established before augmentation, so Dr. Rojas will start by making the appropriate mastopexy incisions. Based on your anatomy, procedure details, and cosmetic goals, Dr. Rojas will use one of the following incision types:

  • Periareolar – Periareolar incisions are used for small lifts and are made around the outer edge of the areola only.
  • Circumvertical (“lollipop”) – A circumvertical incision follows the entire outer boundary of the areola and includes a vertical incision extending from the lower outer edge of the areola to the breast crease.
  • Inverted T (“anchor”) – Larger lifts will require an “anchor” incision, which is made around the areola, with the addition of a vertical incision from the areola to the breast crease as well as a horizontal incision along the breast crease.

Dr. Rojas can then create new breast pockets, so breast implants can be placed over the pectoral muscle or underneath it, as predetermined in your consultation process. Sagging breast tissue can then be repositioned and reshaped. Nipple position and/or areola size can also be adjusted, if needed, to best complement your enhanced breasts.

What Does a Breast Lift with Natural Breast Augmentation Procedure Involve?

Like breast lift with implants surgery, a breast lift with fat transfer requires anesthesia and is considered an outpatient procedure. Dr. Rojas will make the applicable periareolar, “lollipop,” or “anchor” incisions, so he can elevate the breast position and remodel the breast tissue before adding volume with autologous fat injections.

Liposuction must be performed when patients opt for autologous fat grafting as an alternative to breast implants or to complement their breast implants. Liposuction is a popular cosmetic procedure that creates slimmer body contours by permanently removing stubborn body fat.

Depending on the patient’s anatomy and desired increase in breast volume, fat transfer for breast augmentation may involve liposuction of the thighs, buttocks, upper arms, abdomen, and/or back. To best preserve the extracted fat cells and ensure the most viable fat injections possible, Dr. Rojas may utilize water-assisted liposuction, ultrasound-assisted liposuction (VASER), and/or power-assisted liposuction techniques.

To create the patient’s fat injections, the extracted fat will be extensively purified and then combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Dr. Rojas will then perform multiple injections, as needed, to fill out and reshape the breasts.

Breast Augmentation and Lift Recovery and Aftercare

Recovery time after this procedure varies based on the extent of the lift and the type of breast augmentation performed. Dr. Rojas will provide an estimated recovery time for your specific procedure during your consultation.

On average, patients need one to two weeks of downtime after a breast lift with augmentation. In the initial days of your recovery, you may experience swelling, bruising, a tight sensation, and/or soreness in the treatment area.

To ease these symptoms, you can take the medications prescribed by Dr. Rojas. You may be advised to wear a compression bra, which can help to minimize swelling. Aftercare treatments, such as IV therapy and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, may also be recommended to support an efficient healing process.

To reduce the risk of complications, it is essential that you follow Dr. Rojas’ instructions for caring for your incision sites. These directions will include all of the information you need regarding how to keep the sites clean to avoid infection, as well as precautions you must take to protect the incision sites from unnecessary force, abrasion, and strain as you recover.

Dr. Rojas will also advise you regarding safe levels of physical activity at each stage of your recovery. Typically, you’ll need to keep your movements to a minimum for about a week. Non-strenuous activities, including sedentary work duties, can usually be reintroduced within two weeks of your surgery.

Your follow-up appointments with Dr. Rojas allow him to monitor your recovery, so he can guide you through a gradual transition from low to high intensity activities. Most patients are able to resume strenuous exercise and heavy lifting within about six weeks.

What to Know About Breast Augmentation with Lift Results

You will notice improvements in your breast contours right away. However, your final breast lift with augmentation results will not be evident until the healing process is complete, which will be several weeks after your surgery.

Patients who avoid weight fluctuations can enjoy their breast lift results for several years. Periodic non-surgical skin tightening and collagen-stimulating treatments can help to mitigate age-related skin laxity, so you can maintain your enhanced breast look as long as possible.

Breast augmentation results are long-lasting, as well. Breast implants can last 10-20 years before implant removal and/or replacement surgery is needed.

How We Provide the Best Breast Augmentation with Lift in Beverly Hills

Dr. Rojas credits his treatment planning process for his exceptionally high patient satisfaction rates for breast augmentation. He invests considerable time into patient education and helping patients refine their cosmetic goals and arrive at an accurate expectation for their results.

Dr. Rojas uses several methods to assist patients in designing their enhanced breast contours. He typically begins by having an in-depth conversation with the patient about their motivations for undergoing breast surgery and their desired outcome.

Digital imaging technology, bra inserts, before-and-after photos of Dr. Rojas’ previous breast lift with augmentation patients, and other resources can then be incorporated to help the patient articulate their preferences for the size, shape, and projection they hope to achieve with the procedure.

This planning component of the treatment process is most intensive when a patient chooses to augment their breasts with implants. This is largely because breast implants options are extensive. Patients can choose from various consistencies, textures, and sizes. Breast implant surgery is further customized in terms of implant placement techniques and incision location.

How Much Does a Breast Augmentation and Lift Cost?

The price of breast augmentation with mastopexy is determined by whether saline implants, silicone implants, fat transfer, or a combination of breast implants and autologous fat are used to increase breast size. Additionally, the overall cost is affected by the extent of tissue removal and remodeling required, the total surgery time, facility and anesthesia fees, and several other factors.

After Dr. Rojas has developed your personalized treatment plan, you will be provided with complete pricing details for your breast lift with augmentation.
