Am I a Good Candidate for the West Hollywood Vampire Facial?
The Vampire Facial can be an excellent option for those who are not ready for an invasive surgery but still want to improve their skin and look as youthful as possible. When performed by a skin rejuvenation expert like Dr. Emer, the Vampire Facial is suitable for patients of all skin types and skin tones.
Dr. Emer asks that candidates for this procedure be in good physical and emotional health with realistic expectations for their results. Cosmetic procedures can help enhance your natural beauty, but they cannot make you look like a completely different person.
In your initial consultation with Dr. Emer, he can assess your concerns and determine if a Vampire Facial is the best way to restore your most radiant skin. Ideal candidates for the Vampire Facial tend to be patients who struggle with:
- Acne scarring
- Fine lines
- Uneven skin tone
How Does the Vampire Facial Work?
Dr. Emer’s Vampire Facial works by capitalizing on the benefits of microneedling, PRP, and ACell. Each of these treatments has distinct benefits that complement the others for enhanced results.
WHAT IS Microneedling?
Microneedling as a stand-alone procedure has proven to be effective at combating dull skin, blemishes, and signs of aging. This cosmetic treatment involves the use of specialized devices with tiny needles that cause controlled micro-injuries across the treated skin.
These micro-wounds serve two important functions in the Vampire Facial: to initiate the body’s healing response and to maximize the effects of PRP and ACell. The body’s natural healing process is triggered by the micro-injuries, resulting in increased production of collagen and elastin for stronger and more beautiful skin.
Additionally, the tiny punctures allow the PRP and ACell serum to penetrate the skin and work both on and below the surface.
WHAT IS PRP?
PRP is an increasingly popular regenerative treatment that uses the patient’s own blood to support healthy cellular turnover and healing. PRP has countless medical and cosmetic benefits, including addressing localized skin conditions such as acne, wrinkles, cellulite, and sun damage.
The micro-punctures created during the microneedling procedure allow for improved delivery and absorption of this potent, natural healing substance. PRP is an ideal complement to microneedling as it works to accelerate healing.
The PRP used in our treatments is a high concentrate of protein derived from the blood; blood is drawn from the patient and placed in a tube that, once spun in a centrifuge, separates natural growth factors and stem cells from red blood cells.
In addition to helping our patients maintain a fresh, youthful appearance, PRP and stem cells can also be injected into the hair to promote stronger, thicker hair and hair regeneration; into the penis for improved erections and orgasms; and into the vagina for heightened stimulation and rejuvenation. This “Liquid Gold” solution has countless benefits, including addressing localized conditions such as acne, wrinkles, cellulite, and sun damage.
WHAT IS PRP?
Dr. Emer adds ACell to PRP to amplify the body’s wound healing potential. ACell is a medical product that forms a collagen-rich scaffold at the treatment site. This structure promotes healing and stimulates the formation of new blood vessels.
Over time, the scaffold is absorbed by the body and replaced with new tissue. Patients can enjoy a shorter recovery and healthier skin long-term with the inclusion of ACell in the Vampire Facial.
What to Expect During Your Vampire Facial Treatment
Your Vampire Facial will be performed at Dr. Emer’s state-of-the-art medical practice in West Hollywood. The procedure usually takes less than an hour.
At the start of your treatment, a cleanser will be used to prepare the skin for microneedling. Next, a topical anesthetic will be applied to numb the treatment area.
While the anesthetic takes effect, Dr. Emer will create your PRP and stem cell serum. Blood is drawn from the patient and placed in a tube that, once spun in a centrifuge, separates natural growth factors and stem cells from red blood cells. Dr. Emer uses ACell to further enrich the PRP.
The microneedling treatment begins once the treatment site is numb. Dr. Emer will choose from several advanced microneedling devices to best address the needs of the unique patient. Dr. Emer carefully adjusts the device based on the patient’s skin tone and skin concerns before beginning the treatment.
During the microneedling procedure, Dr. Emer uses the handheld microneedling device to create tiny wounds across the surface of the skin. Depending on the patient’s skin, he may make multiple passes across the skin in order to achieve the desired outcome.
After microneedling. Dr. Emer massages the PRP/ACell serum into the treated skin. The micropunctures created during microneedling work as conduits, providing a direct path for the PRP and stem cells to reach deeper layers of the skin.
Vampire Facial Recovery: What to Expect
The Vampire Facial requires minimal downtime, though patients can expect the treated skin to appear red and dry for three to five days after treatment. Many patients return to work and their other normal activities within a day or two.
For about the first three days after microneedling with PRP, avoid vigorous exercise, as well as steam rooms, saunas, and spas. Excessive sweating may irritate the skin.
Dr. Emer will provide aftercare instructions to support the healing process and encourage maximum improvements. Following Dr. Emer’s recommendations for cleansing, moisturizing, and proper sun protection will help you achieve optimal skin rejuvenation effects in the shortest amount of time. As the skin heals, your refreshed complexion will be revealed.
How Does Dr. Emer Do the Vampire Facial Differently?
Dr. Emer has built his impeccable reputation as a leading cosmetic dermatologist by developing proprietary combination treatments for numerous skin conditions. He often combines the Vampire Facial with lasers and radiofrequency treatments to deliver noticeable, lasting improvements in the appearance of scars, large pores, and pigmentation concerns.
Since PRP reduces skin sensitivity, Dr. Emer often recommends the Vampire Facial as part of skin rejuvenation treatments for patients with sensitive skin, acne, rosacea, and dermatitis. Normally, such patients would not be ideal candidates for laser skin resurfacing or microneedling. However, PRP optimizes healing and reduces inflammation to make more aggressive cosmetic treatments accessible to patients with these skin conditions.
Dr. Emer also provides a unique, targeted post-treatment skincare regimen for each patient to further reduce downtime and achieve optimal improvements. Post-treatment skincare protocols often include a combination of products that deliver restorative ingredients such as antioxidants, growth factors, stem cells, vitamins, and hyaluronic acid to enhance the effects of the Vampire Facial.
How Much Does the Vampire Facial Cost?
The cost of a Vampire Facial varies based on the number of treatment sessions needed to achieve your desired outcome, as well as the size of the treatment area(s). Combining the Vampire Facial with additional procedures will also affect the cost of your skin rejuvenation treatment. Dr. Emer will provide pricing details once he has developed your customized treatment protocol.
