HYLENEX

AND THE WORLD OF HYALURONIC ACID FILLERS

Conveniently located to serve Beverly Hills, Hollywood, Los Angeles, NYC, and Miami.

Hylenex is a concentrated synthetic form of an enzyme that naturally occurs in your body. When injected, it begins to break down the filler, speeding up the dissolving process that would take place over time.

Hylenex had medical uses long before fillers, but healthcare professionals have used it to dissolve HA fillers for almost 20 years.

The cosmetic industry has witnessed a significant surge in the popularity of hyaluronic acid fillers. Lauded for their ability to provide instant, non-invasive rejuvenation, these fillers including Juvederm, Restylane, RHA and others have become the go-to for many seeking a more youthful appearance, especially with the added push from celebrity endorsements.

While hyaluronic acid fillers offer transformative effects, there are instances when the results might not align with patient expectations or complications arise. This is where Hylenex, a trusted brand of hyaluronidase, comes into play. As a crucial solution, Hylenex effectively dissolves unwanted dermal fillers, allowing doctors to correct or completely reverse the procedure. Its role has become indispensable, ensuring patients have the option to revert or modify their filler outcomes when necessary.

RIGHT FOR YOU?

WHO IS THE RIGHT CANDIDATE FOR HYALURONIDASE TREATMENT?

The ideal candidates are often those not entirely pleased with their filler outcomes, perhaps due to overfilling, asymmetry, or a gap between expectation and reality.

At times, rare medical complications from fillers, such as prolonged swelling, vascular occlusion, or even allergic reactions, necessitate the intervention of hyaluronidase.

Beyond the medical and aesthetic reasons, some individuals, driven by evolving personal preferences, simply choose to revert to their natural state after having experienced fillers.

How Hylenex works

Hylenex is an FDA-approved injectable treatment that can dissolve and reverse the effects of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers. It contains an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which effectively breaks down the hyaluronic acid molecules in the filler, allowing your body to safely absorb and metabolize them.

We cannot stress this enough – it is extremely important that you select the right injector for optimal results. Undesirable filler outcomes are almost always avoidable when you choose a provider with extensive training and expertise. At Glow Dermspa, we take great care to administer all of our injectables (including Helenex) in a way that ensures natural-looking results and helps you achieve your aesthetic goals.

Hylenex is an ideal treatment for those who wish to correct overfilled areas or adjust previous filler results. If you’ve experienced undesirable outcomes from past filler treatments, our team at Glow Dermspa can help reverse those effects with Hylenex, giving you a fresh start. This safe and effective option allows you to achieve the desired outcome without waiting for the filler to break down naturally over time.

What to Expect

Your Hylenex appointment at Glow Dermspa will begin with a consultation where your provider will evaluate the treated area and discuss your concerns and goals for the reversal. This allows us to create a customized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs.

Once the plan is finalized, your specialist will cleanse the area and may apply a topical anesthetic to ensure your comfort during the procedure. Using a fine needle, Hylenex will be strategically injected into the areas where the filler needs to be dissolved.

After the Hylenex treatment, you may experience mild swelling or bruising at the injection sites, which usually subside within a few hours to a couple of days. It is advised to avoid strenuous activities and excessive heat exposure for 24 hours following the procedure. Most patients can resume their normal daily activities and skincare routines shortly after the treatment. Your provider will give you specific aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results.

COMMON REASONS TO REVERSE FILLERS

The realm of cosmetic enhancements has witnessed an unprecedented rise in the popularity of dermal fillers. These quick fixes promise to roll back the years, plump lips, and redefine facial contours. Yet, not every filler journey has a fairy tale ending. Sometimes, the mirror reflects a result that’s far from what was dreamt of.
While most anticipate a rejuvenated version of themselves post-procedure, the reality can sometimes fall short. Perhaps it’s a case of overfilling, resulting in an exaggerated look, or maybe subtle asymmetries disrupt the harmony of the face. These unsatisfactory outcomes can lead many to consider reversal options to regain their authentic self or simply fine-tune the results.
Every individual’s body is unique, and its response to hyaluronic acid can vary. Standard post-procedure symptoms might include a bit of swelling or redness. However, prolonged reactions, the formation of nodules, or other skin irregularities can raise alarms. More pressing are allergic reactions, albeit rare, which mandate an immediate dissolution of the fillers to ensure the individual’s safety.
Beauty is not static. It’s a journey marked by growth, influences, and personal revelations. Over time, what once seemed like a desirable enhancement might no longer align with evolving beauty standards or personal preferences. It could be a shift in personal aesthetic values or even the occasional regret from a hasty decision influenced by fleeting trends.

APPLYING HYALURONIDASE: COMMON AREAS OF CORRECTION

In the expansive world of cosmetic enhancements, there’s an art to achieving that perfect, natural look. However, missteps can happen, leading to a pressing need for corrections. Here are some of the most commonly corrected areas:

Ducky Lips

One of the most frequent grievances comes from patients with “ducky-looking lips,” where an overzealous approach to lip fillers results in an exaggerated pout that overshadows the natural beauty of the mouth. Fish mouth or ducky look results secondary to overfilling the vermillion border of the lips with Juvederm fillers, a common mistake among less experienced practitioners.

Botched Eyes

The delicate undereye region can easily fall victim to misplaced injections, resulting in a puffy, rather than rejuvenated, appearance. It’s an area where precision is paramount, and any deviations often require prompt corrections. Puffy and swollen look commonly stems from under eye injections done too superficially above the orbicularic ocule muscle.

Pillow Face

When cheeks are overfilled, they can lose their natural contour and definition. This results in a ‘pillow face’ effect, where the face looks inflated and lacks its characteristic angles. Often described as chipmunk look, improperly placed cheek fillers create an exaggerated volume in the malar and zygomatic regions.

Overdone Nasolabial Folds

Aimed at reducing the appearance of laugh lines, some treatments can overfill the nasolabial folds, making them appear artificially smooth and drawing unwanted attention.

Non-surgical Rhinoplasty Missteps

Using fillers to reshape the nose is a delicate procedure. When liquid rhinoplasty is not done with precision, it can lead to asymmetries, an unnatural-looking nose bridge, as well as persistent swelling and redness of the skin prompting many to seek reversal or adjustments.
Each of these areas, when corrected with expertise, can restore the face’s natural harmony, proving the invaluable role of hyaluronidase in the world of aesthetic medicine.

Some of the popular brands that can be effectively dissolved using Hylenex include Juvederm, Restylane, Belotero, Versa and RHA fillers. It is important to note that Hylenex is not effective in reversing non-hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Sculptra or Radiesse. If you are unsure about the type of filler you received, consult with your specialist at Glow Dermspa to determine if Hylenex is a suitable treatment option for you.
