RHINOPLASTY

WHAT IS RHINOPLASTY?

When considering rhinoplasty (or a “nose job”), Dr. Jason Emer and his team of Beverly Hills plastic surgeons consider functional issues as much as cosmetic concerns; in many cases our patients are suffering from an airway obstruction that inhibits their ability to breathe easily and compromises the nasal aesthetic.

The nose must be addressed as a single unit: Each nasal revision or enhancement impacts all other parts of the nose. Therefore, it’s imperative that you entrust a board-certified plastic surgeon with an extensive knowledge of facial anatomy to perform this intricate, sensitive procedure.

WHAT IS OUR APPROACH TO RHINOPLASTY?

Traditionally, rhinoplasty was performed with incisions inside the nose; another safe, modern approach (known as open rhinoplasty) involves a small, discreet incision under the nose, allowing for optimal exposure. Visualizing the anatomy of the nose is paramount in order to analyze the internal airway, precisely contour the cartilage, and potentially shave down the bone at the bridge of the nose. Septal reconstruction is often included as part of the surgery to improve the outward appearance of the nose.

WHAT IS A NON-SURGICAL RHINOPLASTY?

For patients with hollows, bumps or deformities in the nasal tip or bridge, Dr. Emer uses hyaluronic acid-based filler to add volume and height, to contour, and to enhance the appearance of the nose without surgery. In this area, fillers such as Juvederm Voluma or Juvederm Volbella can also improve skin texture and smooth out lines, folds, and wrinkles due to long-term collagen production. Surgical procedures, such as rib grafts and nasal implants, can complement dermal fillers to provide additional contouring and volume.
